Registration now Open for Summer 2025 Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is happy to announce registration is OPEN for our 10-week on-site summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program called The Future of Discovery: Training Students to Build and Apply Open Source Machine Learning Models and Tools (FoDOMMaT). The program is housed in the Center for Artificial Intelligence Innovation and administered by Olena Kindratenko, senior research coordinator at NCSA. This program immerses students in machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) methodologies, beginning with a week-long training session.

This REU program is part of the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) initiative to support active research participation by undergraduate students in areas funded by NSF. FoDOMMaT aims to provide opportunities for highly-motivated students with diverse backgrounds, including those from minority serving institutions and schools with low levels of research activity, to engage in cutting-edge ML and DL projects, thereby enhancing diversity in STEM fields.
