Are you ready to use cutting-edge cyberinfrastructure (CI) tools to elevate your scientific work? If you are, join CI Pathways (NSF award 2417789) and embark on a transformative journey to empower researchers like you!
CI Pathways is a cohort-based training program offering learners a guided approach to using CI to enhance their research. You will learn alongside peers and receive expert guidance from seasoned mentors. Participants will have opportunities to build relationships lasting beyond the CI Pathways program.
CI Pathways is led by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) and the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC), institutions with a track record of facilitating access to advanced cyberinfrastructure for the national research and education community. This program will leverage the two centers’ human and computing resources to provide participants at all levels with world-class learning experiences.
Pathways:
You choose your pathway. Personalized learning plans will be tailored to meet your specific goals.
Four 10-week Learning Pathways will be available:
Each pathway will consist of four hands-on virtual training sessions (one every two weeks) led by PSC and NCSA instructors. At the end of each session, participants will have assignments to complete before the next session. Approximately 10 applicants will be selected for each pathway.

Mentoring:
Mentors will be available throughout the program. Additionally, virtual mentoring sessions will provide opportunities to learn from others and build community among the participants. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend training on how to be a mentor and then mentor a future cohort.
Commitment:
Successful completion of this program requires active participation and commitment to completing the practice activities. This requires a base level of two hours per week during the program’s ten-week duration. Specifically, requirements include:
- Participation in four live training sessions (one every two weeks, two hours each)
- Attendance at least three mentoring meetings, about 30 minutes each
- Completion of assignments for each training session is expected to take about two hours
Completion Perks:
There are three rewards available to participants completing the program:
- Certificate of Completion by attending all sessions and completing all assignments.
- Financial support for top performers to attend CI- and domain-specific conferences.
- Mentoring stipends are available to participants who complete the CI Pathways mentors program and mentor a future cohort.
Program Dates: March 13 – May 8, 2025
