CAII leverages existing partnerships and forges new collaborations to solve difficult multidisciplinary challenges and expand awareness of what AI can achieve. Maximizing synergies between industry teams, students, computing experts, and researchers enable powerful, adaptive, lasting solutions to intractable problems.
We can illustrate our various partners by thinking of them as the 5 Pillars of Collaboration. Each pillar brings an additional dimension or perspective. CAII’s diverse alliances help foster engagement across the Center, improve collaboration, and achieve better solutions.

Students
Through our Industry partners we can bring an individual focus on building the skills and talent of our participating students.
A prime example would be our collaboration with Caterpillar and what students have delivered to them through various projects.
Technology Partners
Without the support of our Technology Partners we would not have access to some of their “state of the art” resources which allow us to provide the educational experience and the resulting solutions to problems. Our spotlight shines on NVIDIA which collaborates with CAII and DeltaAI – to provide access to resources where we can develop solutions utilizing AI and Digital Twinning
Industry
Our Industry partners help keep us focused on and exposed to external factors that impact the use of AI in the “real world”.
A good illustration of this type of collaboration is our work in Agriculture with our partner the Center for Digital Agriculture at NCSA called CropWizard (an interactive, generative AI chat and decision-support service designed for agricultural professionals in the U.S.)
Alumni
Many of our Alumni are able to contribute back to the center after graduation through mentoring and facilitating new corporate engagements.
We’d like to introduce you to Asad Kahn who graduated with a PhD in Physics and worked with the Center on projects related to the Convergence of AI and HPC. His his work contributed to algorithms for cosmology and multi-messenger astrophysics. He is now a VP at Goldman Sachs and an affiliate of CAII.
